Make the most of the long summer evening cycling and walking to explore this beautiful place.  Monty Hall described Barra as  ‘a neat little island in the most westerly inhabited in Great Britain.  It is only eight miles long by seven miles wide.  Yet it is home to 1,000 species of wild plants, with 150 species of birds recorded.  It also has some of the nicest beaches (and best surf) I encountered in my entire time in the islands.’

Bring your wellies and paddle in the rock pools, collect cockles from the nearby beaches and don’t forget to stop at the airport where you can see for yourself the twin otter plane landing one the most beautiful beach runways in the world.
