Description
Barra Beach House is a large modern comfortable property nestled in to Dun Scurrival in the North End of the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. The property has five bedrooms and is ideally situated in the quieter North end of the island about a twenty minute drive from the main town of Castlebay.
Barra Beach House has an idyllic tranquil setting with amazing beach views to the front of the property and the big Atlantic breakers on ‘The Moll’ a short walk along the road. The sand dunes are a stroll along the beach. From here you can walk around the point to Eoligarry Jetty, recently featured on the front cover of Scottish Field Magazine.
Make the most of the long summer evening cycling and walking to explore this beautiful place. Monty Hall described Barra as ‘a neat little island in the most westerly inhabited in Great Britain. It is only eight miles long by seven miles wide. Yet it is home to 1,000 species of wild plants, with 150 species of birds recorded. It also has some of the nicest beaches (and best surf) I encountered in my entire time in the islands.’
This property would suit large families and groups who enjoy exploring the outdoors. Bring your wellies and paddle in the rock pools, collect cockles from the nearby beaches and don’t forget to stop at the airport where you can see for yourself the twin otter plane landing one the most beautiful beach runways in the world. Feeling energetic? – then cycle to the local ‘Heathbank’ hotel in Northbay for a selection of local bar food and drinks.
