A very warm welcome from a lovely family . Lovely comfortable room and great breakfast. Wish we had booked for longer stay, we’ll be back.
A beautiful house and a warm Hebridean welcome.

Just returned from a wonderful stay on the Isle of barra with the fergusons. Hospitality second to none! We arrived by plane – amazing journey- and Jimmy took our luggage to the house, leaving us free to explore without the baggage. Arriving at the house later we were met by Mary Ann and we were shown to a beautifully appointed ensuite bedroom which was immaculate.
After a great sleep, we had a lovely cooked breakfast, piping hot with lots of accompaniments.
This really is the most beautiful B&B ever. Very high class accommodation matched with a lovely warm welcome. When we return to ‘Baradise” we shall definitely stay here.
Thank you very much.
Great accommodation and a welcoming and wonderful host. Deserves more than 5 stars
Very friendly couple, most accommodating. Spotlesss en suit room with an amazing view. Delicious breakfast. Highly recommend staying here.
Brilliant B&B, Our family room was very spacious and comfortable, MaryAnn is the best host ever, so friendly and kind. We had great fun looking for the corncrakes which live in the field next to the house. Breakfast was delicious and we can’t wait to stay again, would highly recommend.
Very good B&B, clean comfortable bedroom and en-suite. A warm welcome from Mary Ann, and a good breakfast. No TV in the room, but there was one in the spacious lounge.

What an amazing place to stay. Rooms were massive, spotless clean and cooked breakfast was tremendous. The view is amazing too. We even had to leave early for a ferry and they were happy to accommodate an early breakfast for us.I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here Mary-Ann the host is the nicest person. Thanks again for having us.
This was a great place to start our Hebridean adventure after the short flight onto Barra from Glasgow.
We had a huge family room which was spotlessly clean and beds were very comfortable. Fantastic breakfast too.
Mary-Ann and Jimmy – keep up the great work!
Excellent place to stay, great hospitality and friendly environment. Would love to come back!
We were made to feel incredibly welcome and Maryann is a lovely host. Breakfast fantastic and accommodation extremely comfortable!! Highly recommended.
Lovely lady , beautiful house with great view outside , delicious breakfast with warm serving just like a mom ?? .
We have to leave early & the way she was politely offering packed lunch was not lesser than the feeling like a family.
Would love to visit Barra only if this place have availability .
Thank you so much for the warm hospitality ??
Mary Ann is the most welcoming of hosts. We stayed for 2 nights with our dogs after a mishap on the island in our motorhome. Mary Ann was so accommodating and helpful with our circumstances helping to organise food for us and services to help repatriate us back to the mainland we will always to so grateful for her support and care during our stay. Her accommodation is first class lovely spot on the island with great views, and breakfast was excellent.
We had a wonderful stay in April 2023. We had a dog, so were in the spacious family room downstairs. There is a guest sitting room with sofa, tv and table for breakfast. Mary Anne was really flexible, letting us eat our supper in that room due to lack of dog friendly eateries
Friendly warm welcome and excellent breakfast – Would really recommend anyone to stay here.
You can walk down to a beach from here.
Just got back from Barra. Heaven,Mary Anne is a 5*+ Owner. Great Family. She went above and beyond the role of the Owner. I was with 2 young children. Mary Anne is so kind. You helped make it a great visit, thank you Mary Anne. From Angus,Imogen and Lilly. September 23.
I just spent five days at Croit na h-Aibhne B&B. What a delightful experience! The house is large and comfortable. My room was spacious. The food was excellent and the dining room and lounge area were appointed with comfortable furniture that encouraged conversation among guests. The view from the house is beautiful with views of the sea across rolling, green countryside. Jimmy and Mary Ann, my host and hostess, were accommodated my special dietary needs willingly and shared with me information about their lives on Barra. Staying with them was a delightful experience. I look forward to going back.
Tha Gàidhlig on a’ ghlùin aig Màiri-Ann, a bha na tidsear Gàidhlig aig an àrd-sgoile. Bha i gu math deònach a’ Ghàidhlig a bhruidhinn rium-sa ged a bha mi ach nam neach-ionnsachaidh. Bha Jimmy an duine aice gu math càirdeil agus cuideachail cuideachd, gu h-àraid air sàillibh ‘s gun robh e ag obair aig a’ phort-adhair.
O thùs, bha sinn a’ dol a chuir seachad ceithir oidhcheannan aig Croit na h-Aibhne ach a’ cheann-thall, chuir sinn seachad còig oidhcheannan air sàillibh ‘s gun deach ar n-itealan a chuir dheth. B’ e fear de na taighean-aoigheachd as fhèarr san robh sinn a-riamh, leis a h-uile sìon a mholl càch sna lèirmheasan a-seo fìor-cheart: seòmar farsaing, seallaidhean brèagha, is biadh an taigh cho blasta ‘s a ghabhas. Tha Màiri-Ann deònach biadh ullachadh ann an an-àm nuair nach eil i ro thrang agus chan eil ach còig mionaidean air ur cois bhon taigh gu Joan’s Pizzas.
‘S i Chiorstaidh an tagsaidh gu math sùbailte airson lioftaichean fhaighean a-null ‘s a-nall air an eilean ‘s na h-eileanan eile cuideachd nam biodh tu ag iarraidh, mar sin, chan eil duilgheadas againn idir a bhith a’ dol timcheall an eilein.
Tha Sheabhal dìreach shuas an gleann bhon taigh, agus ‘s urrainn dhuibh a’ bheinn a sho-dhìreadh ma tha a’ mhisneachd agaibh a dhol air a’ bheinn gun fhrith-rathad.

Màiri-Ann, who was a Gaelic teacher at the high school, is a native Gaelic speaker. She was very willing to speak Gaelic to me even though I was only a learner. Her husband Jimmy was also very friendly and helpful, especially as he worked at the airport.
Originally, we were going to spend four nights at Croit na h-Aibhne but in the end, we spent five nights because our flight was cancelled. It was one of the best guesthouses we’ve ever been to, everything that others suggested in these reviews was accurate: a spacious room, beautiful views, and the home cooking is delicious. Mary-Ann is willing to prepare food out of season when she is not too busy and it is only a five minute walk from the house to Joan’s Pizzas.
Kirsty is a very flexible taxi driver for lifts to and fro on the island and the other islands too if you would wish, so we had no difficulty at all getting around the island.
Heaval is just up the valley from the house, and you can climb the hill if you have the confidence to go on a hill without a path.
We only stayed one night, but were really impressed.
Norma – the owners’ daughter – was really helpful.
Lovely large bedroom, very well equipped (also large) bathroom.
One of the nicest hotel breakfasts we’ve had.
excellent value
