Tigh Na Mara is a neatly kept family run Guest House offering a high quality Bed & Breakfast service (established since 1961). As its Gaelic name suggests, the tradfitional; property is superbly located by the sea with extensive views of Castlebay harbour.

Our Accommodation Comprises – 1 Double, 2 Twin & 2 Single rooms.

The Guest House is located just two minutes (400m approx) from the Oban ferry terminal, and 9 miles from Ardmhor/Eriskay ferrry & Airport. Local hotels, bus stop and shops are only a five minute walk away. Makes it Ideally situated for exploring this beautiful island, with its renowned beaches and and rugged coastline made famous by the film Whisky Galore.

I have stayed at Mrs Macleans guesthouse twice and would recommend it to anyone. The location is superb with great views and a very light airy and comfortable atmosphere. The food is very good and the Lady herself is extremely helpful and a very good host .If you want somewhere to relax on Barra then you could not stay anywhere better. I will be going back again .

First time I stayed at Mrs Macleans guesthouse was in May 2017. I enjoyed the guesthouse so much I decided to return to Barra and stay again in this lovely guesthouse! Linda is a very friendly hostess and she cooks a marvellous Scottish breakfast… The room is clean and neat. Looking forward to stay there again in 2018!

we would like to visit Barra in May 2019. Would it be possible to sleep in your wonderful dubble-room two nights, from 2.nd of May to 4.th of May? It would be great! What’s the price?

The Tigh Na Mara Guesthouse is a very nice and beautiful family run Guest House just 2 minutes (c. 400 m) away from the ferry to/from Oban. One can easily see that the owners (Linda & Archie) put a lot of love into each detail of the rooms. The views out of the windows from the bed rooms are just stunning. One looks over a wide bay of the Sea of the Hebrides, with a view to the ferry terminal, some smaller boats, the Kisimul Castle and in the distance the ‘Port Tuath an Uidhe’ (nice sandy beach on Vatersay). The rooms are very clean and cosy, the bathroom is fully equipped and the breakfast offers a wide variety of delicious things; of course also ‘Full Scottish Breakfast’; but there is even much more. All is very tasty and prepared with love by Linda. There are also many brochures, books, leaflets available, so you can prepare your days very well. We stayed for 5 nights there and would always chose this B&B again.
